Indications for Use
Inadvertent contamination of intravenous infusions can have serious consequences:
Associated Endotoxin - Endotoxin has serious effects on the inflammatory, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and coagulation systems. It is released by Gram-negative bacteria and has been shown to be able to penetrate conventional IV filters. Only filters that retain associated endotoxin can be safely used for more than 24 hours.
